The Dugong & Seagrass Research Toolkit was developed in collaboration with Total, Total Abu Al Bukhoosh, EAD and CMS Dugong MOU Secretariat.
Total and Total Abu Al Bukhoosh have supported dugong conservation in the UAE since 1999 through their partnership with EAD. By sponsoring the development of the Dugong & Seagrass Research Toolkit, Total and Total Abu Al Bukhoosh have made an important and significant contribution to dugong and seagrass conservation globally.
Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) is committed to protecting and conserving the environment for a better life for all and has led the UAE dugong conservation programme. By partnering with other government entities, the private sector, non-government organisations and global environmental agencies, EAD embraces international best practice and innovation institute effective policy measures.
EAD facilitated the development of the Dugong & Seagrass Research Toolkit and provided valuable guidance throughout its production.
The CMS Dugong MoU is an international agreement that aims to promote internationally coordinated actions to ensure the long-term survival of dugongs and their seagrass habitats throughout their range. The MoU entered into effect on 31 October 2007 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and has been signed by 26 countries.
The Dugong MoU Secretariat coordinated the development of the Dugong & Seagrass Research Toolkit through its Dugong Technical Group, who developed the toolkit content.
